The Coffing Model RA ratchet lever hoist is a heavy-duty manual lifting and pulling tool designed for utility, construction, maintenance, and industrial rigging applications. This configuration provides a 6 Ton capacity, 5 ft Lift, 22 in minimum distance between hooks, and approximately 97 lb of handle effort at rated load. The 6 Ton model uses four-strand load-chain reeving and a 20-1/2 in operating handle.

The hoist body and handle are manufactured from high-strength ductile aluminum alloy, providing corrosion resistance and portability while supporting demanding field use. Open-body construction allows easier inspection of the suspension hook assembly, and the hoist can be operated from either side and in multiple working positions. This versatility makes it suitable for lifting, pulling, binding, and positioning loads where access around the hoist may be restricted.

A ratchet-and-pawl operating system provides controlled load movement without relying on a conventional disc-brake mechanism. At least one pawl remains engaged with the ratchet during lifting and lowering, while handle stops help prevent uncontrolled handle rotation if the operator loses grip. One-handed free chaining permits quick take-up and positioning of unloaded slack chain and is designed to resist accidental free chaining while the hoist is supporting a load.
