The Chester Model AM Hand Chain Hoist is a manually operated lifting unit designed for standard industrial service, standby maintenance and material-handling locations where electrical or pneumatic power is unavailable. The hook-type configuration allows the hoist to be suspended from a properly rated overhead attachment point, while its compact and portable construction supports use in indoor and outdoor work environments. The models shown provide load capacities from 0.25 Ton through 5 Ton with a standard 10 ft Lift.

The Model AM uses a durable steel frame with heat-treated load-bearing components, rugged steel gearing and steel gear and handwheel covers for impact resistance. Forged steel hooks provide secure load attachment, while the heat-treated alloy steel load chain is designed for demanding lifting service. The straightforward mechanical design provides economical maintenance, replaceable components and reliable manual operation without requiring a separate power supply.

The 0.5 Ton and 1 Ton models have 12-1/8 in minimum between hooks, a 7/8 in hook opening and require 64 lb of hand-chain pull to lift the rated load. The 2 Ton model has 15-1/2 in minimum between hooks, a 1 in hook opening and requires 66 lb of pull. The 3 Ton model has 16-1/2 in minimum between hooks, a 1-1/8 in hook opening and requires 68 lb of pull, while the 5 Ton model has 20-1/4 in minimum between hooks, a 1-3/8 in hook opening and requires 70 lb of pull.
