The Caldwell Model 20-25-6 Low Headroom Lifting Beam is a below-the-hook lifting device engineered specifically for crane and hoist applications where vertical clearance between the crane hook and the load is restricted. In standard lifting configurations, the combined height of the rigging assembly — including slings, shackles, and the hook — can consume significant headroom, limiting the usable lift height in facilities with low ceilings, mezzanines, or other overhead obstructions. The low headroom design of the Model 20-25-6 minimizes the vertical distance between the crane hook attachment point and the lower load attachment points, maximizing the available lift height within the facility's structural constraints.

The lifting beam provides a rigid structural member that connects the single upper crane hook attachment to one or more lower load attachment points, distributing the load and maintaining a controlled lift geometry.
