The 3M DBI-SALA® Sealed-Blok Self Retracting Lifeline is a heavy-duty fall protection device engineered for demanding industrial environments where exposure to moisture, dust, chemicals, and other contaminants would compromise the performance and longevity of a standard SRL. The defining feature of the Sealed-Blok series is its sealed housing design, which protects critical internal SRL components — including the braking mechanism, lifeline spool, and associated hardware — from environmental exposure. This sealed construction makes the Sealed-Blok particularly well suited for offshore, marine, chemical processing, food processing, and other harsh-environment applications where equipment reliability and service life are paramount.
The 50 ft (15 m) stainless steel cable lifeline provides an extended working range suitable for applications involving elevated structures, towers, tanks, and other work-at-height scenarios where the worker may need to travel significant distances from the anchorage point. Stainless steel cable offers superior corrosion resistance compared to galvanized or standard steel cable, making it the preferred lifeline material for marine, offshore, and corrosive industrial environments. The extended 50 ft length accommodates a wide range of vertical and horizontal working distances while the SRL's automatic retraction keeps the lifeline taut and reduces trip hazard from slack cable.
The swiveling self-locking snap hook with impact indicator provides secure and reliable connection to the harness dorsal D-ring, with the swivel function preventing lifeline twist during movement. The impact indicator provides a visible signal if the unit has been subjected to a fall arrest load, allowing supervisors and workers to immediately identify a unit that requires removal from service and inspection.
