Product Description

The Petzl I'D S is a self-braking descender with an integrated anti-panic function, designed for work at height and rope access applications. The "S" designation indicates the standard rope size variant, compatible with ropes from 10 to 11.5 mm in diameter — the range most commonly used in rope access and work-at-height systems. With a working load limit of 150 to 250 kg, the I'D S is suited for single-person descent and lowering operations in rope access, industrial maintenance, and technical rescue contexts.

The I'D S features a self-braking mechanism that automatically arrests descent if the operator releases the handle, providing a hands-free locked position that allows the user to stop and work without maintaining constant braking pressure. The anti-panic function engages if the handle is pulled too far or if descent speed becomes excessive, locking the device and preventing uncontrolled descent. This combination of self-braking and anti-panic functionality makes the I'D S one of the most widely used descenders in professional rope access and work-at-height applications globally.

Certified to EN 341 type 2 class A, CE EN 12841 type C, CE EN 15151-1, ANSI Z359.4, NFPA 2500 Technical Use, UKCA, EAC, GB/T 38230 II A, and XF494 - FZL-X-Q10/11.5, the I'D S carries one of the most comprehensive certification profiles of any descender in its class, covering European, North American, UK, Russian, and Chinese regulatory requirements. CE EN 15151-1 certification additionally confirms its suitability as a braking device for climbing and rope access systems. Constructed from aluminum, steel, and nylon.
