Product Description

The Petzl I'D L is a self-braking descender with an integrated anti-panic function, designed for rescue operations requiring controlled descent and lowering of heavier loads. The "L" designation indicates the large rope size variant, compatible with ropes from 12.5 to 13 mm in diameter — the larger rope range commonly used in rescue systems where higher load capacities and greater rope durability are required. With a working load limit of 151 to 280 kg, the I'D L accommodates loaded rescue configurations including a rescuer and victim or heavily equipped personnel.

Like the I'D EVAC, the I'D L features a self-braking mechanism that automatically arrests descent if the operator releases the handle, and an anti-panic function that locks the device if the handle is pulled too far or if descent speed becomes excessive. This allows the operator to maintain controlled, one-handed lowering while managing other aspects of the rescue operation. The device is constructed from aluminum, steel, and nylon, providing a robust and field-ready build for demanding rescue environments.

Certified to EN 341 type 2 class A, CE EN 12841 type C, ANSI Z359.4, NFPA 2500 General Use, UKCA, and EAC, the I'D L meets the key international standards for descending devices used in rescue and rope access applications. The NFPA 2500 General Use rating distinguishes it from Technical Use devices, confirming its suitability for a broader range of rescue personnel and operational contexts. Available in black.
