The Petzl WILLIAM TRIACT-LOCK is a lightweight asymmetrical carabiner with a large basket capacity, designed for use with belay devices, descenders, pulleys, and other rope access hardware in work-at-height and rope access applications. The asymmetrical pear shape — also known as an HMS shape — provides a wide basket at the top of the carabiner that accommodates the knots, devices, and hardware commonly used in rope access and rescue systems, while the narrower spine keeps the overall profile compact and manageable. The large gate opening of 27 mm allows easy loading of ropes, webbing, and hardware.

The TRIACT-LOCK gate system requires three sequential actions to open — lift, rotate, and pull — providing a high level of accidental opening resistance without the need for a screwgate or additional locking tool. This makes the WILLIAM TRIACT-LOCK well suited for applications where the connector must remain securely closed during active use, such as belay device attachment, descender connection, and pulley rigging, while still allowing relatively fast one-handed operation when intentional opening is required.
