Product Description

The Columbus McKinnon Little Mule LMG4503 Hot Line Wire Grip, part number 04456W, is a 5000 lb capacity utility wire grip featuring a parallel jaw with aggressive teeth. Columbus McKinnon's current Utility Products Catalog specifies this model for bare and stranded copper and ACSR and aluminum conductors ranging from 0.18 to 0.60 in, or 6 AWG through 4/0 AWG. The aggressive-tooth jaw is the primary gripping difference between the LMG4503 and the fine-tooth LMG4502 while retaining the same capacity and conductor size range.

The LMG4503 uses a hot line, non-spring-loaded gate configuration with an un-notched handle. Hot line Little Mule models incorporate a special gate plate designed to allow a lineman to hang the grip on the line before beginning the pull while helping prevent the open grip from falling off the wire. This configuration provides an alternative to the spring-loaded, notched-handle Little Mule grips while retaining a straightforward opening and release mechanism.

Forged steel construction provides the durability required for repeated utility and field service work while keeping the grip relatively lightweight for handling. The Little Mule design also includes a large handle eye opening for standard hooks and connection to tackle blocks. Columbus McKinnon emphasizes easy opening, quick wire insertion and removal, and corrosion-resistant chromate-finished components throughout the Little Mule wire grip family.
