Columbus McKinnon's current Utility Products Catalog specifies this model for bare and stranded copper and ACSR and aluminum conductors ranging from 0.18 to 0.60 in, or 6 AWG through 4/0 AWG. The aggressive-tooth jaw is the primary gripping difference between the LMG4503 and the fine-tooth LMG4502 while retaining the same capacity and conductor size range.

The LMG4503 uses a hot line, non-spring-loaded gate configuration with an un-notched handle.
