Product Description

Coffing Model RA ratchet lever hoists are lightweight manual hoists designed for lifting, lowering, pulling, binding, tensioning, and positioning loads. The listed configurations provide a 5 ft Lift in 3/4, 1, 1-1/2, 2, 3, and 4-1/2 Ton capacities. The product family was developed for utility transmission and distribution work but is also suited to industrial maintenance, equipment installation, construction, and field rigging applications.

The hoist body and operating handle are manufactured from high-strength ductile aluminum alloy, providing corrosion resistance and portability without the weight of a conventional iron housing. Open-body construction allows easier inspection of the suspension hook assembly, while handle stops help prevent uncontrolled handle rotation if the operator’s hand slips during use. Standard models use self-coloured load chain, with zinc-plated chain and hooks available as optional configurations.

A one-handed free-chaining function allows unloaded slack chain to be taken up and positioned quickly while resisting accidental free chaining under load. The ratchet-and-pawl mechanism maintains pawl engagement during lifting and lowering, supports operation from either side of the hoist, and allows the unit to work efficiently in multiple rigging positions. Capacity-specific reeving ranges from one load-chain strand on selected lower-capacity models to three strands on the listed 4-1/2 Ton model.
