The Crosby HG-228 Jaw & Jaw Turnbuckle is engineered for heavy-duty rigging and tensioning applications requiring secure jaw-end attachment, dependable load adjustment, and superior fatigue resistance. Designed for straight or in-line pull applications only, these heavy-duty turnbuckles provide reliable tension control for industrial rigging, marine systems, utility projects, construction operations, and overhead lifting environments.
Manufactured from quenched and tempered or normalized steel with hot-dip galvanized protection, the HG-228 turnbuckles deliver exceptional durability and dependable long-term performance in demanding outdoor and industrial conditions. Featuring forged jaw ends, modified UNJ threads, and fatigue-rated construction, these turnbuckles are built for rugged service and repeated heavy-duty loading cycles.

Hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance
Fatigue rated to 20,000 cycles at 1-1/2 times the Working Load Limit
Working Load Limits available from 800 lb through 75,000 lb
Proof load is 2.5 times the Working Load Limit
Ultimate load is 5 times the Working Load Limit
Lock nuts available for all sizes
Meets or exceeds ASME B30.26 requirements
Meets Federal Specification FF-T-791b Type 1 Form 1 Class 7 and ASTM F-1145 except for contractor-required provisions
Available in sizes from 5/16 in x 4-1/2 in through 2-3/4 in x 24 in

Series: HG-228 Jaw & Jaw Turnbuckles

Material: End fittings are quenched and tempered or normalized; turnbuckle bodies are heat-treated by normalizing.

Finish: Hot-dip galvanized steel unless otherwise indicated.

Jaw Hardware: Forged jaw ends are fitted with bolts and nuts on 1/4 in through 5/8 in sizes and pins and cotters on 3/4 in through 2-3/4 in sizes.

Threads: End fittings use modified UNJ threads for improved fatigue properties. Turnbuckle bodies use UNC threads.

Design Factor: 5:1.

Proof Load: 2.5 times the Working Load Limit.

Fatigue Rating: Fatigue rated to 20,000 cycles at 1-1/2 times the Working Load Limit.

Application: Turnbuckles are recommended for straight or in-line pull only.

Compliance: Meets or exceeds ASME B30.26 requirements for identification, ductility, design factor, proof load and temperature requirements. Also meets the performance requirements of Federal Specification FF-T-791b, Type 1, Form 1, Class 7 and ASTM F-1145, except for provisions required of the contractor.
