Chester Zephyr hook-suspended hand chain hoists are manually operated lifting units built with steel frames and compact housings for dependable industrial service. The configurations shown are supplied with an 8 ft Lift in capacities ranging from 1/2 to 10 Ton. Their portable hook-suspension design allows installation from a properly rated fixed support or compatible trolley attachment, while the low-headroom construction supports lifting in confined work areas.

The mechanically enclosed housing uses heavy-gauge stamped steel covers and rolled steel frame sections to protect the precision-machined internal components from impact and most foreign material. Grease-tight construction retains lubrication during normal operation, while the centre planetary gear train uses heat-treated alloy steel gears and pinions mounted on heavy-duty roller bearings for efficient transfer of hand-chain effort.

A positive-action Weston-type load brake provides controlled lifting and lowering. The heat-treated steel load chain engages accurately formed pockets in a cast steel load wheel, while the shrouded chain guide directs the chain and helps limit contamination around the load sheave. The upper hook assembly allows the hoist to rock and swivel beneath the support, and the forged alloy steel lower hook rotates on a thrust bearing for easier load positioning. Capacity-specific reeving ranges from a single load-chain strand on the 1/2 through 2 Ton models to five load-chain strands on the 10 Ton model.
