Product Description

The McKissick TU-482 Snatch Block in the 2 inch rope, 24-inch sheave configuration is a heavy-duty, extreme-capacity snatch block engineered for the most demanding rigging and lifting operations requiring a 60 Ton working load capacity with wire rope up to 2 inches in diameter. The 24-inch outside diameter roll forged sheave provides a generous rope bend radius that significantly reduces wire rope fatigue and extends rope service life under the very high line loads associated with 2-inch wire rope applications. Roll forging produces a sheave with a refined, dense grain structure that resists the extreme mechanical stresses and shock loads encountered in oilfield, offshore, heavy marine, and large-scale construction rigging operations where maximum rope diameter and block capacity are required.

The TU-482 is fitted with tapered roller bearings with seals, providing efficient distribution of both radial and axial loads while the sealed bearing housing prevents ingress of water, grit, and field contaminants. This bearing configuration ensures smooth, low-friction sheave rotation under sustained extreme loads, minimizes rope wear at the sheave groove, and reduces maintenance frequency in remote or offshore locations where regular servicing is not practical. The combination of a large 24-inch sheave diameter, sealed tapered roller bearings, and roll forged sheave construction makes this block particularly well suited for the highest-demand applications where rope diameter, block capacity, rope longevity, and bearing reliability are all critical operational requirements.

As a snatch block, the TU-482 incorporates an openable side plate for lateral wire rope insertion without threading the rope end through the block, enabling rapid rigging changes and efficient load line redirection under field conditions. This configuration is designed for the most demanding applications including heavy crane and derrick rigging, offshore platform and floating production operations, pipeline and heavy civil construction, large vessel mooring and towing assists, and multi-part line systems where 2-inch wire rope and 60 Ton capacity are required. Always confirm working load limits, wire rope diameter compatibility, and pin dimensions before placing the block into service.
