This CM replacement hoist cam is designed for the Short Handle Puller. CM identifies part number 73746 as the cam used within the puller’s operating and free-chaining mechanism. It installs on the gear-cover side of the puller and works with the cam pins, free-chain spring, gearing, and associated operating components.

The cam allows the operator to select between the puller’s normal operating mode and free-chaining mode. With no load attached, rotating the cam from “OPERATE” to “FREE-CHAIN” disengages the gearing so the load chain can be pulled through the hoist by hand for faster hook positioning and attachment. Returning the cam to “OPERATE” allows the gearing to be re-engaged before lifting or pulling begins.

This component is intended to replace a cam that is cracked, worn, distorted, seized, or no longer moving correctly between its operating positions. Proper cam movement is essential for controlled engagement of the Short Handle Puller’s free-chaining system.
